The Kinect A Fun Electronic Gift Idea for 2011

If you own an Xbox 360, you should be very excited about the possibilities of the Kinect.

The idea of playing a video game without a controller in hand is well, let's say revolutionary and that is exactly what the technology in the Kinect is. The most advanced gaming technology; the way of the future. It's actually a technology that will eventually reach beyond gaming.

The excitement for Christmas 2010 was definitely about the Kinect. It was one of the hottest electronic Christmas gift of the year. Microsoft expected to sell in excess of 3,000,000 of this video gaming accessory to people from around the world.

If someone you know owns an Xbox 360, they will likely be wanting one of these 'toys.' If you know someone who wants one for Christmas, and it should still prove to be a popular gift item this Christmas.

How Does The Kinect Work?

The initial set up is a bit tedious in that you have to teach the Xbox and the Kinect to recognize your body form. However, once you have done so, the system will automatically know who has entered the room and even when someone else (who is also entered into the system) joins you.

The system echoes your moves during game play. There is a slight lag and the idea is really that you are control-less, you ARE the controller, rather than that the play is instantaneous.

Are There Any Issues With The Kinect?

The sytem is not perfect; it echoes your movements rather than duplicating them immediately. However, the real concern that seems to be cropping up is SPACE. You have to have enough room to play this game properly. If you don't...well, it just doesn't work so make sure you know how much space you have to play in BEFORE you buy your Kinect.

What are the actual space requirements? The Kinect requires 6 feet of space if you are playing with one person and 8 feet if you are playing with two. Extra space, of course, would be wonderful.

Microsoft's Kinect device has the potential to revolutionalize our electronic world. This new technology promises, eventually, to replace the remote controls in your home and allow you to operate your electronics equipment and possibly your furnace, your sunroof, etc. with body language and without the use of your hands. Right now, however, the excitement about Kinect technology is directed squarely at the XBOX 360 VIDEO GAME CONSOLE, which was one of the HOT Christmas items of 2010. To play, you start by signing in with your Kinnect by simply jumping in front of the Sensor. Then you jump, duck and spin your way through the video game. The Kinect Sensor is brand-new technology and offers up a whole new way to play. No longer will you have to use a controller because when you play games with the Kinect, your body is the controller. • Video Game Console Review: The Nintendo Wii Scream Said It All

Did you do the Wii scream when you received your Wii? Was the mighty Wii video game console really worthy of a Wii Scream? Is this how you would react to receiving the Wii console when it was brand new and oh so exciting? It was more than just a bit exciting to receive a Wii video game console and some of the necessary video games and video game accessories for many individuals. But was it enough to cause you to scream? It certainly was for the recipients of the Wii video game consoles on this page! One reaction became a YouTube video hit and, as of February 12th, 2009, had more than 395,196 people visit, 487 comment and 662 leave star ratings. Yes, you will find J.P. Pellegrino's world-famous Wii Scream video on this page. My teenage boys received a Wii and some of the best Wii video games this year for Christmas from Santa. At 17 and 15 years of age, their reaction was slightly more mature. They had the contents of the package figured out before they started to unwrap it. There was no scream but the smiles were definitely ear-to-ear and the pleasure plain to see. What is it about the Wii and the Wii Scream? Why were people around the world so enthralled with this video game console and with these videos? On this page, I have featured only a few of the many, many YouTube videos available on this theme. I hope you enjoy them. Picture by St. Catharine's Standard. - 7 months ago

  • Michael Jackson The Experience Video Game 2010

Michael Jackson fans LOVE it. From the moment the song Billy Jean starts on the trailer for Michael Jackson's new video game, The Experience, I am excited although I am certain that I am going to have much difficulty executing any of the dance moves. However, I love listening to Jackson's music and I love the idea of TRYING his choreography (and laughing outloud) and this video game delivers plenty of opportunities to do both. Michael Jackson's The Experience was released for the Nintendo Wii, the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP on November 23, 2010, Unfortunately, if you own an Xbox 360 you had to wait until March 1, 2011 to receive your copy of this 'thrilling' new video game. (Pun intended.) On this page, you will find the video trailer and more information about the game. • Video Game Review: Nintendo's Wii Party

If you are planning a party and you own Nintendo's Wii, you NEED the new game, Wii Party. I listened with interest recently as my 17-year old son and his female birthday guests had a blast in the basement playing this fun new video game. There are no other party video games on the market that offer the number of play options and variations that Wii Party does. This game features more than 13 games and 70 mini-games that you play in your living room as opposed to on your television screen. The screen acts as your game board and you roll the dice to play the games. You use the Wii remote controls to play the games in the real world with the results of game play contributing to your progress on the game board on your t.v. Wii Party is a multiplayer game, which features both competitive and cooperative gaming and is perfect for any gathering of up to four individuals. (You can accommodate larger gatherings by taking turns.) This game is rated E for Everyone and is suitable for children aged eight-years old and up. It is great family entertainment, with occasional slapstick violence called 'mild cartoon violence' and nothing graphic. Most importantly, Wii Party is loads of family friendly fun. Absolutely! Controllers get lost or break. Being able to move like this "wireless" is very exciting and sounds like great fun.
