My Blu-ray Experience or How I Came To Know Something About Blu-ray Movies
How The Blu-ray Experience Came To My House
My blu-ray experience has been a journey. Honestly, I am amazed at where I have wound up with regard to blu-ray movies. I actually have some general knowledge about blu-ray technology and have written over 30 pages dedicated to some of the best blu-ray movies, technology and movies in general.
I was led, initially with some reluctance, to my current state of blu-ray knowledge by my technology-loving husband. (Do you have one of those?) I actually thought that this Hub could be entitled, 'How the Blu-ray Experience Came To My House.' (Okay, I changed the subtitle to match that thought.)
In the year 2000, my husband really, really wanted a Pioneer 43-inch plasma television that retailed for a around $16,000. Thank goodness he had the sense to know that spending that much on a television was...crazy and so, he waited. And waited. And waited. And waited some more.
In 2008, I began my journey into the world of blu-ray when I wrote a somewhat successful page on Squidoo called the 'Top 10 Best Blu-ray Movies 2008 For Sound & Picture Quality.' That article was based on Sound & Vision magazine's list from the summer of 2008 and a lot of research on my part and it was the start of my interest in blu-ray movies.
Once I started talking blu-ray lingo, my family went into shock. They listened slack-jawed as I laced my sentences with knowledge about blu-ray discs and movies but more importantly, my husband took my newfound interest as a green light and, by Christmas 2008, he could wait no more. Santa arrived with a rather large sleigh that bore a brand-new home theatre set up.
Fortunately, for us the price of HDTV had come way, way down and, after the experience of living through a basement renovation, we found ourselves with a new recreation room in our basement, the proud owners of a Panasonic TH-50PZ850U 50-inch Viera 1080p Plasma HDTV and a Sony Playstation 3 blu-ray player.
How about you, have you started your blu-ray journey yet? How are you enjoying it? Me? Why, I'm lovin' it!

Exciting New Blu-ray Player, LG BD590
I've just discovered an exciting new blu-ray player, the LG BD590. What's exciting about it? A few things, actually.
- It has an instant open tray and is quick loading. Considering the frustration of waiting for a tray to open on our blu-ray player, this advance is, in my mind, tremendous.
- It features wireless networking which makes it easy to tap into your home's system and the internet.
- It makes media streaming simple so whatever your choice, be it NetCast, Netflix, Pandora, Picasa, VUDU, CinemaNow, YouTube or Accuweather, it is yours for the taking
- Finally, and most importantly to me, this blu-ray player features top quality audio and picture quality.
If I was in need of a new player today, I would certainly be considering the LG BD590.

My husband is counting down the days until he can buy his blu-ray DVD player. We'll see how it goes and I'll be back to check out your favorite blue-ray movies.
I'm not that familiar with Blu Ray at all, but I know people that swear by it. I invested in an HDTV back when they first came out in 2005. They were immensely heavy back then, kind of like those Zenith TV's of the 70's that had the built in wood panel casing. It's definitely time for an upgrade.
